Nalbinding

Nalbinding is a technique for creating fabric out of felting wool yarn by looping and knotting the thread. Different to crochet or knitting, the fabric can't unravel. The technique has been known since prehistoric times and went out of fashion in western Europe in the late middle ages when knitting became commonplace.
